Class Descriptions
The comprehensive course is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in managing peripheral neuropathy through specializes assessment and massage therapy techniques. Participants will learn to conduct detail patient assessments, including reviews of medical history, physical examinations focused on sensory and motor function, and reflex testing.
Is self-care an ethical issue? Does lack of self-care disrupt our ability to be present with our clients? As massage therapists and body-workers, we tend to focus our energies and attention toward service and care of others to the detriment of our own care. Out of deep commitment to service and healing, we frequently forget when we are burned out, our clients will not be getting the level of professional care we are capable of offering.
Ethics is rooted in human relationships, and the wise use of power is essential in holistic practice. This course helps you explore your personal relationship with power and understand how it shapes the therapeutic dynamic. By recognizing and managing power differentials, you can provide trustworthy, skillful, and compassionate care.
Massage therapists work with soft tissue injuries in a way that few other practitioners do. That's why athletes and active individuals experiencing chronic conditions of the lower extremity seek out their massage therapists to help them recover. Sports massage technique are widely used to address musculoskeletal complaints of the lower extremity and are a valuable adjunct to the repertoire of any massage therapist interested in treating injuries.
